999 Magazine Celebrates the UAE’s 45th National Day

The 999 Magazine, the Ministry of Interior’s cultural, social, and security magazine, hosted a ceremony to mark the UAE’s 45th National Day. The ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi under the slogan ‘Happiest People.’


The ceremony was attended by Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and sponsor of the event; Retired Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Chairman of 999 Magazine Development Committee and Lt Colonel Awadh Saleh Al Kindi, Editor-in-Chief of the Magazine. Also attending was a number of officers from the Ministry of Interior, sponsor companies’ representatives and a number of prominent personalities and media figures.


In his speech on the occasion, Major General Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said: “999 Magazine is bringing us together one more time, under the auspices of the Ministry of Interior to celebrate the 45th National Day for the rise of the UAE. This blessed spirit was ushered in by a great leader, the founding father HH Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his brothers, their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates. They laid the foundations of a country whose citizens and residents enjoy security, safety, prosperity, welfare and happiness; granting the UAE one of the happiest people in the world. All of these achievements have been attained under the recommendations of our wise leadership of the great successor, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; the unrelenting efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and the continuous follow-up of General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.


“This is why 999 Magazine chose the title of ‘Happiest people’ for its 45th National Day Special Edition, to shed light on the advanced level attained by the UAE, which endeavors to provide for providing its people with the best means of welfare and happiness.  This outstanding development has been widely recognized by Arab and international delegations and positioned the UAE at the forefront of world countries on the Global Competitiveness Index,” he added.


Major General Al Nuaimi extended the greetings of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to the Chairman and members of the 999 Magazine Development Committee and its staff members; in recognition of their tremendous and successful efforts to transform the magazine from a merely police and security-oriented publication to a social and cultural one. He praised their significant efforts to spread  the social and security culture through the magazine’s Arabic and English versions, the 999 Children Magazine, the ‘Police Community’ supplement and other national and educational supplements. He also commended their success in achieving the satisfaction and happiness of readers from different social categories, ages and nationalities, as per the vision and slogan of the magazine; to create "A New Concept for the relationship between Police and community members".


Happiest People


Retired Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Chairman of 999 Magazine Development Committee, said: ““To mark the UAE’s 45th National Day, we have chosen the theme ‘Happiest People’ as a title of our Special Edition, to reflect the state of welfare and happiness enjoyed by the UEA people and residents, thanks to the wide variety of services provided by the wise leadership on all levels. It also aims to highlight the keenness to pursue development efforts to bring the MoI’s, 999 Magazine to the best and highest levels.


The Chairman of 999 Magazine Development Committee expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the UAE leadership, citizens and residents on the  45th National Day. He said: “This auspicious and precious occasion went down in history as an honorable day for the UAE, which united all of its children with great resolve, supported by their higher leadership that gave them all the love and loyalty in return,  drawing inspiration and determination from the national principles and values.”


Adding further, Retired Major General Badran said: “This glorious day has become an opportunity to renew the pledge of loyalty towards the wise leadership, which laid the foundations of a modern country that forged ahead amongst world countries and became a symbol of growth and culture. It achieved progress and development in all fields and gave the world a role model of a distinguished union that attained the highest positions on international competitiveness platforms.”


He praised the support and attention of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to 999 Magazine, which contributed significantly to the Magazine’s development in terms of shape, content and reach. He pointed out to the recommendations of His Highness to issue a monthly ‘Police Community’ supplement that were instrumental in achieving the coveted aspirations, notably reaching out to all social categories from different ages and nationalities with a security, cultural and social message.


Retired Major General Badran explained that the ‘Police Community’ supplement highlighted the police achievements and news, while the English version of 999 Magazine allowed communication with non-Arabic speakers, to deliver security awareness and recommendations to them. He also noted the the 999 Children Magazine provided an recreational, educational and cultural experience to children, via short stories, diverse quizzes and useful information to enhance children’s culture and knowledge in all areas, especially security awareness.


Retired Major General Badran stressed the keenness of 999 Magazine, during this yearly celebration, to forge ahead steadily towards further development, excellence and singularity in tackling topics that highlight the UAE in the different cultural, social and security fields. He praised the efforts of the work team for their role in achieving the magazine’s qualitative development. He also valued the efforts of public and private institutions that sponsored the event.


In conclusion, he expressed his wishes for further development and welfare in the UAE society. He noted that the support of the UAE leadership and the various services it provides in the economic, social and services fields are the key factors that make the Emirati people the happiest people.


Lt Colonel Awadh Saleh Al Kindi, Editor-in-Chief of 999 Magazine, explained that the magazine was keen to hold this year’s celebration under the slogan ‘Happiest People’, in a bid to reflect an image of the Emirati society, which is considered one of the safest and happiest societies in the world. He said: “This embodies the keenness of the Ministry of Interior, represented by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to continuous development, capacity-building, and the adoption of the best international practices to protect national gains.  Security is the key pillar of community development, and society’s trust is the cornerstone of our unrelenting efforts. We endeavor to further enhance this trust and achieve further satisfaction amongst community members.”


Lt Colonel Al Kindi thanked sponsors for their continuous support for 999 Magazine’s efforts to achieve its social and security culture mission, and to maintain its reputation as "A New Concept for the relationship between Police and community members" for its readers across the UAE and GCC countries.


A number of partners and sponsors participated in the ceremony, and commended the Magazine’s role in enhancing cooperation between them.


Major General Al Nuaimi, sponsor of the event, received an appreciation shield from Major General Badran on behalf of 999 Magazine, and another shield from the Rashid Centre for the Disabled. Major General Al Nuaimi, accompanied by Major General Badran and Lt. Colonel Al Kindi, honored the event’s sponsors and participants.


The ceremony began with recitations from the Holy Quran. Then media figure, master of ceremonies Ahmad Chookah delivered a speech, and attendees watched a documentary film titled ‘Happiest People’. Poet Abdullah bin Shamma presented a poem titled “Happiest People”. The ceremony also included a number of national songs and a folklore performance by a popular heritage band.
