GCC Award Committee Meeting Concludes

In the closing statement of the GCC Award Committee’s third meeting recently held in Abu Dhabi, participants called for examining the special guidebook on honors and medals prepared by the Organizational Excellence Department at the UAE Ministry of Interior.

The Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will be provided with the amendments, remarks and suggestions pertaining to the guidebook up for discussion, pending adoption of the final draft in the committee’s next meeting scheduled to be held in October. The final draft of the guidebook will then be submitted to their Excellencies GCC Ministry of Interior Undersecretaries during their next meeting.

Heads and members of the GCC delegations had held the GCC Award Committee’s third meeting in Abu Dhabi, and was chaired by Fahed Modahi Al Aredi, Head of the General Secretariat of the GCC countries delegation.

Al Aredi said that the meeting comes within the framework of cooperation and coordination, as well as sharing expertise and knowledge among GCC countries in different fields.

Colonel Khalifa Mohammed Al Zaabi, Head of the Employees Performance Appraisal Department at the Ministry of Interior, and head of the UAE delegation delivered a speech at the meeting, by which he conveyed the greetings of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. He also praised the efforts exerted by the GCC Secretariat General to prepare and organize this meeting, and wished everyone a pleasant stay in their second country, the UAE. 

Colonel Al Zaabi praised the joint efforts to enhance cooperation among GCC countries and the exchange of expertise in all areas related to police and security work between the GCC countries.

Participants discussed the recommendations from the GCC Award Committee’s previous meeting and reviewed the draft executive regulations pertaining to the decision on honors and medals in GCC countries.

During the meeting, participants also reviewed a number of nominations for honors and medals within the GCC Countries, and discussed the guidelines for honors and medals awarded to police personnel and community members. They also reviewed the presentation made by the UAE delegation on the nomination eligibility criteria according to the international excellence standards applicable in the UAE.
