In early April, LG Electronics (LG) Gulf launched its “Life’s Good Restaurant” competition – an opportunity for UAE residents to share their most nostalgic dishes and stories, for the chance to win home appliances and a meal cooked by Emirati chef, Faisal Nasser. LG has announced three winning dishes and reveals how participants in the UAE can still have the chance to win prizes.
Following inspiring, heartfelt and entertaining entries from participants of all ages, Chef Faisal selected the top three dishes with the best stories behind them:
1. Dish: Homemade pizza
Prize: LG InstaView refrigerator
Background: Lover of cooking shows, inspired by his father to challenge conventions and get creative in the kitchen. The participant’s father is a lover of Italian food and especially pizza.
2. Dish: Ataif filled with Nutella, maple syrup, pistachio and cream
Prize: LG NeoChef microwave
Background: Perfected by a mother for her daughter during the lockdown, after which the duo began making it together as a bonding activity.
3. Dish: Open sandwich with colors of the UAE flag
Prize: LG NeoChef microwave
Background: Recalling fond memories of making sandwiches that resemble the UAE flag, alongside classmates back in kindergarten.
This month, Chef Faisal delivered recreated dishes to the winners’ homes, alongside LG home appliances as top prizes. During May, LG will be releasing a cooking video, showing the 3 dishes being prepared by Chef Faisal, alongside the reactions of the winners upon tasting the food and receiving their prizes. This will be followed by a final compilation video which looks at the “Life’s Good Restaurant” campaign in its entirety.
While the main competition has now closed, LG is still offering UAE residents the opportunity to win prizes until 30th May. To take part, simply visit https://www.lg.com/ae/thespot and click on “Life’s Good Restaurant”. Once registered, participants simply need to upload an image or video of their dish and share the story behind it to enter the competition.
Should a participant choose, they are also welcome to post on Instagram, TikTok or Facebook, where they must upload an image or video on their main feed, supported by a caption which tells their story. The account must be made public and the post should include @LGGulf in the caption and the hashtag #FoodThatSlaps. Participants can then visit the site and simply follow the instructions on the “Life’s Good Restaurant” page to upload their link – essential for qualifying entry into the competition.
Similarly, participation is also welcomed via publishing a cooking or food-related video on YouTube and Vimeo, using the same hashtag (#FoodThatSlaps) in the caption. If posting on YouTube or Vimeo, entrants must share the link via the “Life’s Good Restaurant” page and provide a brief message about the story behind their chosen dish.
